Guniting Service

High-Strength Spray-Applied Concrete for Structural Repair and Protection

Guniting — also known as shotcrete — is a specialized construction technique in which a cement-sand mortar or concrete mix is pneumatically projected at high velocity onto a prepared surface. The high-impact application compacts the material layer by layer, creating a dense, strong, and durable concrete structure with excellent bond strength and minimal permeability.

What is Guniting?

The guniting process involves mixing cement, sand, and sometimes aggregate with water and projecting the resulting mortar or concrete through a hose and nozzle using compressed air. The high-velocity impact against the receiving surface densifies the mix, resulting in a concrete with superior compressive strength, reduced water-cement ratio, and excellent resistance to water penetration.

Key Benefits
  • Achieves high compressive strength — typically 30–50 MPa
  • Excellent bond to existing concrete, masonry, and rock surfaces
  • Can be applied to overhead and vertical surfaces without formwork
  • Highly impermeable — ideal for waterproofing applications
  • Fast application — reduces construction programme
  • Versatile — suitable for new construction and repair works
Applications
  • Tunnel lining and underground construction
  • Swimming pool and water feature construction
  • Retaining walls and slope stabilization
  • Structural repair and rehabilitation of deteriorated concrete
  • Industrial tank lining and waterproofing
  • Foundation walls and basement waterproofing
Quality Control

Core samples are taken from the gunited surface to verify compressive strength. Water ingress and permeability tests are conducted to confirm the effectiveness of the waterproofing. All work is carried out by trained and experienced nozzlemen in accordance with project specifications.
